A special thanks to Sister Leonarda, O.P.

A special thanks to Sister Leonarda, O.P., for speaking at our North Columbus Serra Club meeting in February!

Dominican Sisters Immaculate Conception Providence
Sister shared such wisdom with us and we must share it with others!
-pray for courage for young people to seek out their vocations
-pray also for those helping young people discern their vocation
-spread awareness of vocations
-it starts in our own homes, without Holy families, we won’t have Holy Orders, no Holy Orders no sacraments
-encouraged others to join her Order for the Second Saturday mass at their convent on Livingston Ave.
Sister also recommends the following 3 books for young people discerning:
1. Discerning Religious Life by Sr Clare Matthias
2. Tuning In To God’s Call by Andrew Wisdom, OP & Christine Kiley, ASCJ
3. Come and Follow Me by Fr. Stefanick Mameluke, F.I.
Thank you, Sister Leonarda!

A Vocation is a Mystery!

A Vocation is a Mystery

Vocations are a mystery! Chuck and JoAnn Wilson inspired Serra Club of North Columbus members as they shared beautiful pieces of their faith journey and a few insights into how they raised a son who said ‘Yes’ to the call to Priesthood! Thank you, Wilson Family for ALL you do to bring others to the fullness of our faith!

Blessed by The Catholic Foundation!

Partnering for an increase of Vocations
Blessed to have the support of The Catholic Foundation! Thank you, Loren Brown (President of The Catholic Foundation) for taking the time to join us at our meeting and presenting The Serra Club of North Columbus a $3000 grant in support of our annual girls’ and boys’ vocation luncheons. We have faith that the 2022 luncheons will bear much fruit as the attendance included 190 girls, 18 Religious Sisters from 10 Communities as well as 150 boys, 8 Seminarians, and our very own Bishop Fernandes! Bishop shared his vocation story which was an inspiration for all!
God Bless The Catholic Foundation and all you do for vocations and evangelization of our great Catholic faith!

An Abundance of Gratitude For The Catholic Foundation!

Heartfelt thanks to The Catholic Foundation for the generous financial grant

Annual vocations awareness luncheons for high school and middle school boys and girls are organized and hosted by the Serra Club of North Columbus each fall, in the Jessing Center on the campus of the Pontifical College Josephinum.
The Girls’ Luncheon in early October was addressed by Sr. Leonarda Zielinska, O.P. of the Dominican Sisters, Immaculate Conception Province. Several of the various orders of sisters in the diocese presented information tables, enabling the attending girls to see the wide variety of charisms and apostolates of the sisters.
At the Boys’ Luncheon in early November, Bishop Earl Fernandes delivered a riveting talk on his own vocation story, and an explanation of the urgent need for young men to discern, and answer, Christ’s call to the priesthood.
Nearly 200 students attended each event, along with clergy, teachers, and members of the Serra Club.
